Having Iftar meal in heart of history: Photos

Some Muslims in Iran’s Isfahan have opted to break their fast in the heart of nature and historical places in the city in order to celebrate the underway Nowruz holiday.

This year, the ancient festival of Nowruz coincides with the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Nowruz is a 13-day holiday that marks the arrival of spring and the Persian New Year, and visiting relatives is one of its main features.

Some people in Isfahan opted to gather in the city’s tourist destinations in order to both see their families and celebrate Nowruz, and at the same time to have Iftar, that tends to taste better in the presence of the beloved ones.

During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims abstain from eating and drinking from sunrise to sunset.

The worshippers break their fast with the evening meal called “iftar”.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the lunar calendar, is the month when the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to Islam’s Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The act of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan is aimed at reminding people of the impoverished people and their suffering.
